A BIRTHDAY PARTY, A POOL, AND LIZARDS

Laila with her new Kurio Touch, complements of Grandma & Grandpa.

First order of business yesterday morning was another trip to Lowes for the 5th load of block.  That was the extent of my wall building activities, on a day off from stacking block.

It was early afternoon when we drove over to the kids house for Laila's birthday party.  Laila & her classmates only had a half day at school (2nd grade), and she had 3 of her friends, Loren, Emma, & Emmaline  over for a combination birthday & pool party.    For the next several hours, we wore ourselves out just watching these 4 young girls expend enough energy to easily run the local electrical power plant.  The only break they took was when Laila opened her presents, and Chandra fixed them some lunch.

A new swim suit for the pool, and the trip to Hawaii.

Living in Southern Arizona, and with her own pool, Laila is able to swim well into the fall months.  Her aquatic skills have grown by leaps and bounds over the last couple of years, and I think she's as comfortable in the water, as she is out.

From left Emma, Emmaline, & Laila are in the same 2nd grade school class.  Loren goes to another school.

Jump off the diving board, no problem!

When the girls got tired of the pool, they focused their attention on a group of baby lizards that they discovered near the grass.  Between the four of them, they ended up catching 4 lizards, and of course, they each named their very own lizard.  It was great fun for awhile, then as with most things, their attention turned to something else, and the little reptiles were set free.

When Marc got home from work, we watched Laila open the remainder of her birthday presents, then we headed back to the ranch.  This morning, they're coming out for a big Grandpa breakfast, before their big trip to Hawaii, starting tomorrow.
