Today is the beginning of a brand new year, where we continue to settle into our brand new to us house, in a totally new community. We are looking forward to new adventures, good health, and we wish everyone the same.
Chandra brought Laila out to the ranch yesterday afternoon, and she will be with us for the next couple of days. The enthusiasm and energy of a 7 year old is certainly a change of pace for us, but it allows us to steer away from the normal routine, and be a bit more creative with our thoughts and activities. Last night, instead of watching the usual TV programs, we put on one of Laila's favorite DVD movies called Pete's Dragon. She has probably seen this movie a dozen times, but it still captivates her attention, and it is a pretty cute story. No, we didn't stay up to ring in the new year, we were all in bed by 9:30pm.
After we watch some, or all of the Rose Parade this morning, we're off to town to do some shopping. We're still adjusting to the fact that a trip to the grocery store, or into the big city, is more than just a couple of minutes drive. We're about 20 miles from downtown Tucson, by freeway, and most all of the big box stores, and other businesses are at least a 15-20 minute drive. I've got a 25% off coupon at Harbor Freight, that's good only today, and it's burning a hole in my pocket. That's one stop, and there will be several others before we get back home.
Tomorrow, I have an appointment at Lazy Days RV, to get a few things fixed on the motor home. Since Lazy Days took over from the old Beaudry RV, where we bought the motor home, we haven't had any experience with the Tucson Lazy Days service department. When the property was still Beaudry, we had several experiences with their service department, and it was mostly terrible. When we were in Florida a few years ago, we had a new refrigerator installed at the Lazy Days facility, and the service was excellent. Here's hoping that they have transferred some of that good customer service to their new property here in Tucson.
