CLEANING DAY
Unless you drive to Alaska during the winter months, you can count on lots of dirt, dust, and mud on your vehicle(s). The road construction window of opportunity is confined to about 3, maybe 4 months, and we've already traveled through a bunch of highway rebuilding projects. The enemy of Alaskan and northern Canadian roads is the extreme cold winter weather. Keeping roads smooth over permafrost soil is difficult, and it's a constant battle by the highway maintenance folks.
I decided that since we are in one of those rare RV parks (Eagles Rest) that allow you to wash your vehicle(s), yesterday was the day that most of the road grime was going to disappear. Nancy agreed that she was going to take advantage of the opportunity, so we both started with our Jeep Liberty's. When they were once again shiny, we next tackled our motor homes. While we were busy with the outsides, Patty did an inside job on our house, and after a few hours, we were done. The girls decided that they hadn't quite finished shopping, and headed off to one last museum, a gift shop or two, and the grocery store. Gracie and I took advantage of the peace and quiet, and watched a movie. Well, I watched a movie while Gracie kept my lap warm. We ended the day with some fresh halibut chowder that Patty whipped up, and it was delicious.
After 4 days here in Valdez, we're leaving this morning for the big city - Anchorage.
Eagles Rest RV park - $42.30 Cumulative - $717.31

Wow, a campground that will let you wash your RV...that is very rare indeed. One good thing about living in a RV is that it doesn't take very long to clean the inside!
