After 4 nights at Pilot Knob, we moved into the Yuma Fairgrounds yesterday, joining all of the other members of the parking crew. We first parked in the front lot of the fairgrounds, then about mid afternoon, we all moved inside the fairgrounds.
Just after we got settled, I called Nancy to see where she was on her drive to Yuma from CA. It was good timing because she had just turned off I8 in Yuma, and was on her way to the fairgrounds. When she arrived, we had a chance to visit a little before Nick Russell had a parking crew meeting. During the meeting, we learned where we will be working from Tom Westerfield, who is heading up the volunteer parkers, and we learned from the Nickster, that 145 RV's are registered for the rally. According to Nick, that number will grow a little from the drive up folks who are not registered.
After the meeting, many of us headed over to EAT, a Chinese Buffet in the WalMart shopping center, where we had some pretty darn good food. We were joined by Tom & Barb, and enjoyed the company. This morning, our group of 8-10 rigs will move to parking spots with electrical hookups, and I'll join the parking volunteers in the front parking lot/staging area. Today is early bird day, and when the Good Sam Rally is over at noon, we'll start parking the Gypsy Journal rally goers inside the fairgrounds.
I have a feeling that Patty and Nancy will be heading back to the Market Place Swap Meet, or some other place where the word for the day will be "Shopping".
Almost forgot.............I got a call from Deputy Meyer at the Yuma County Sheriff's Department. She related that after consulting with her supervisor, the false advertising statute in the Arizona Administrative code does apply to the Yuma Lakes billboard and marketing flyer. However, and it's a big however, the statute requires proof of "intent to defraud". That's a deal breaker, and Deputy Meyer said that it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible to prove intent. I agreed and so what started as an inquiry about where to lodge a complaint, that turned into a short criminal investigation, has terminated with a dead end. I just hope that my cage rattling has caused CRA to take a closer look at their marketing practices.

It doesn't really sound like a marketing practice, but more like an employee situation. We have encountered this so many times and know that if they are not properly trained or are not people people then they should be in a different position. Management should be immediately notified as you did so that things can be fixed or fired whichever is needed.
