GIRDWOOD, AK TO SUTTON, AK

No pictures yesterday, as we first drove into Anchorage, then late afternoon, when we were finished at the Vet's office, we drove out of Anchorage, stopping at a small RV Park about half way to Glennallen.  These pictures are additional ones from the previous two days, including where we parked at the Ski Resort, our Jeep trip into Whittier, and the wild animal park.

The crack on the far left, is now half way up the windshield.

Before we took off for Whittier, this helicopter landed right behind where we were parked.

This large concrete building in Whittier was where all of the troops & their families lived.  When the base was abandoned, so was this building.

We had lunch on this deck, where we watched the Alaska Marine Hwy Ferry pull out of the dock.

Just a bit overloaded, but looks like this person's got everything, including firewood, and yep, it's a Harley!
Our last stop for the day was in Portage, where we had the opportunity to be up close to some Alaskan Critters.

The purpose of our stop in Anchorage was to do a followup visit with the Vet, who two weeks ago, gave us the bad news that our kitty was in the later stages of kidney failure.  The blood test yesterday was even worse news, as the meds & diet change had not done any good.  The bad stuff in her blood was elevated over what it was two weeks ago, and the prognosis is dismal.  She may be with us for a few weeks, or perhaps a few months, but any time beyond that is probably nothing more than wishful thinking.  Thanks to all who have left comments on the blog, and who have emailed.  Your thoughts & prayers for our Gracie girl mean a lot.

Our destination today is Tok, where Marc forwarded our mail about a week ago.  It should be there, but we'll probably have to wait until Monday before we can pick it up.  We're starting to make appointments in Oregon for a new windshield, maintenance on the motor home, and a dentist.  Without any other setbacks, we should be in the Eugene area in about 8-10 days.
