While Patty worked in the house, I spent most of the day dismantling shelves, stacking what had been stored on them, in the middle of the garage. Boy, do we have a lot of "stuff". One of the few benefits of moving, is that it's a great opportunity to get rid of things that are doing nothing more than taking up space. I don't consider myself a packrat, or a hoarder, but I often find myself saying "I might need this someday", and on the shelf it goes. For those few times that I discover I need something, that was tossed a year earlier, it's not worth all of the space those items take up. So, the Goodwill pile keeps getting bigger, and bigger.
Two of the 5 selves are dismantled, with 3 to go.
If we had rented a truck, Marc was going to have his Uncle Marty fly from Phoenix to Tucson in his airplane, pick him up, and fly him from Tucson to Lake Havasu. Marc was then going to be the driver of the rented truck. I would have had to hire a couple of gorillas on both ends, and even though that was all very doable, with a mover, we don't have to worry about labor, or getting Marc from Tucson to Lake Havasu. Patty will tow the small trailer with the jeep, and I will drive the motor home with the enclosed trailer.
The movers will be here on Sunday, the 9th, load everything up, and we'll all make the drive back to Tucson on Monday, the 10th. With a little over a week before the movers get here, we've got plenty of time to get everything boxed up, and ready to go.
I picked up a check from the Boat Brokers yesterday, for the sale of our Sea Ray Sundeck boat. We took a bit of a hit from what we payed, to what we got, but it's done, and the money will come in handy for things like this move. There's a lot of truth to the saying "the two best days in a boat owners life, is the day you buy, and the day you sell".
The garage shelves are taken apart, with 2 more to go in the backyard shed.
