TOK, AK TO LAIRD HOT SPRINGS, B.C.

The longest of the windshield cracks is over half way to the top.

This post covers the last two days, as our last couple of over night stops have been without an Internet connection.  After we picked up the mail on Monday morning (15th), we left Tok, Alaska, headed south.  The worst section of the Alaska Hwy is between Tok, and Kluane Lake, and our progress was slowed to about an average speed of 40-45 mph.  Lots of frost heaves, gravel patches and construction.  South of Kluane Lake & Haines Junction, the road is much better.

Taking a break at one of the rest area's, near Kluane Lake.
This is how windshields get broken.  Another truck kicked up a rock, and we now have 3 damaged areas on our windshield.

We tried to park at the Wally World in Whitehorse, but no space, as it was late.  No problem.  Knowing the area quite well, I drove over to the Canadian Superstore, where there were only a couple of RV's parked for the night, and lots of room.  It's only a few blocks away from Wal Mart, and they have an area where they allow RV's to overnight.

This black bear came pretty close to my open front door.

There's always a herd of Bison near Liard Hot Springs.

Our second long day ended at Liard Hot Springs, where we had to park across the highway in the overflow parking lot.  After a quick dinner, we walked over to the hot springs for a soak.  It was warm yesterday, in the low 80's, so we stayed in the cooler part of the springs.  Two long days of driving, a soak in the hot springs, and we were ready for the day to come to an end.
